This 1968 AMC AMX is a fabulous opportunity to own a stunning example of one of America's rarest performance cars. Sold new at C.A. Cox Rambler in Wollaston, Massachusetts, it's nicely equipped with the 390/315 HP V-8 engine fed by a 4-barrel carburetor and backed by a 4-speed manual transmission with a Twin Grip rear end packed with 3.15:1 gears. Power steering and power brakes make the car infinitely easier to handle, and the Go Pack brings many more performance and drivability options to the table. Presented in rare dark green with white racing stripes and a tan interior, it could be suggested that whoever ordered this car new had a penchant for British sports cars. Factory Frigette air conditioning, styled road wheels, the dealer promotional brochure and the Options and Accessories booklet all accompany this fabulous sports-muscle crossover. Well-known in the muscle- and sports-car worlds, AMC's goal of combining the two worlds fell slightly short when the AMX emerged in 1968. A fabulous car that set a number of speed records, impressing several well-known racing drivers in the process, the AMX offered sports car buyers the opportunity to own a two-seater sports car with gobs of useful torque, while giving muscle-car enthusiasts the chance to own a big-cube car that could not only rip the drag strip apart, but tame curvy roads as well. It was a remarkably unique vehicle in the day, and it still is today. Growing in popularity as collectors and enthusiasts seek something outside of the usual sports-car and muscle-car board of fare, 390 4-speed AMX’s have become more desirable in recent years. AMX has long been in the shadows of more popular, mainstream muscle cars that benefited from larger marketing budgets and campaigns back in the day, but those who knew AMC quality and AMX performance knew well what they had. There's a reason AMX enthusiasts are so devout—driving one will prove the point.

A distinctive color scheme, desirable small-block 4-speed drivetrain and low mileage constitute the central features of this very sharp 1964 Chevrolet Corvette convertible. With engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov at the helm of the Corvette engineering team, the development of the second-generation Sting Ray proceeded apace after its 1963 model-year introduction. Arkus-Duntov had established the pattern of ongoing improvements early in the evolution of the first generation, and he knew that resting on the laurels generated by the 1963 model would arrest his campaign to continue refining the Corvette into the sophisticated performer he had long envisioned. The 1964 Corvette, therefore, represented the next development phase that had begun with approval of the 1963 models. It incorporated a host of refinements both inside and out that resulted in subtle improvements to appearance, ride quality, handling and performance. Removing the bright imitation hood grilles and substituting boldly styled new rocker-panel moldings eliminated some of the previous model’s visual clutter, aided by smoothly styled new wheel covers with radial cooling slots. Obvious interior revisions included wider seatbacks for improved support on longer trips, black gauge faces to reduce glare and a simulated wood-grain steering-wheel rim. The most significant improvements were felt rather than seen. Noise, vibration and harshness were addressed throughout, resulting in stiffer rear body panels to reduce resonance. Improved insulation and rubber body-mounting bushings further contributed to reducing road noise. Below decks, new progressive-rate springs and revised shock damping reduced low-speed ride harshness while maintaining Corvette’s outstanding high-speed handling and road holding. Optioned with the popular L75 327/300 HP small-block V-8 and Muncie 4-speed manual transmission, this 1964 Chevrolet Corvette convertible presents in the attractive grouping of Daytona Blue paint with a white soft top and desirable white-on-black interior. Soft Ray-tinted glass, an AM/FM radio and Goodyear white-stripe tires round out the list of features on this very attractive mid-year Corvette, which shows a mere 21,335 believed-original miles.
