Owned and maintained by the same family since 1967, this 1966 Shelby GT350 is offered for sale from the Wayne Davis Collection for the first time in more than 50 years. Sold new in February 1966 at Republic Ford in Houston, Texas, the Shelby was acquired two years later by Davis’ cousin. Davis purchased the GT350 from his cousin in the 1990s and has owned it ever since. Listed in the Shelby Registry as VIN SFM6S061, the GT350 is one of 252 known as “carryover cars.” In order to have Shelby Mustangs in showrooms for the beginning of the 1966 model year, Shelby American started with 1965 fastbacks, converting them into 1966 GT350s with a number of 1965 Shelby components, including 15-inch wheels, lowered A-arms, Koni shock absorbers and override traction bars. The Mustang grille and instrument panel were also updated to 1966 specs. The Davis family GT350 remains very original with its factory interior, window glass and early production hollow-letter aluminum valve covers. There was one cosmetic refresh in 1992 in the correct Wimbledon White with blue stripes. The body has never been disassembled and the 306 HP Cobra 289, Toploader 4-speed and nine-inch rear end are original to the car. Per the Shelby Registry, 6S061 was ordered with the optional 15-inch Shelby/Cragar 5-spoke wheels. Like all 1966 GT350s, the Davis Shelby was delivered to Shelby American as a K-code Mustang fastback. To differentiate the 1966 model and to further distinguish the Shelby from the standard Mustang, functional quarter-panel scoops were added along with Plexiglas windows in the C-pillars. Under the hood, the 289 High Performance engine was modified with an aluminum intake with Holley 4-barrel and Tri-Y headers. Inside, the Mustang’s black standard interior was updated with a wood steering wheel, dash-mounted 9,000 RPM tachometer and competition seat belts.

Red is hot. When the color of fire covers a performance car, the attitude changes from passive to aggressive. So it is with this 1970 Hemi Cuda, a Mopar so blistering in appeal that Dean Sox, son of legend Ronnie Sox, named it his Celebrity Pick at MCACN in 2013. Sold new at Bales Motor Co. in Jeffersonville, Indiana, this Hemi Cuda was never one to shy away from attention. Of course, packing the punch of Chrysler’s ultimate V-8 engine always helps, and beneath the argent-colored Shaker scoop is the 426 Hemi engine. You know the one—NASCAR-derived durability, dual 4-barrel carburetors, hemispherical cylinder heads and bowing to no other. Behind it on this car is the A32 Super Performance axle package featuring the Hemi TorqueFlite automatic transmission and 4.10 Sure Grip final-gear ratio. A heavy-duty suspension came standard on Hemi cars, as it was expected you would need it, and this car also has power brakes. The factory Shaker hood and its J45 hood pins are the first thing you notice, with road lamps, ribbed rocker-panel moldings, black hockey-stick stripes ending in the word HEMI and chrome exhaust tips setting Hemi-powered Cudas off from the wannabes. If that red exterior was not enough, consider its rarely seen matched red vinyl interior. This car came with high-backed bucket seats, the C16 center console with Slap-Stik shifter, the Rallye instrument cluster and a Solid State AM radio. On all four corners, 15-inch Rallye wheels are shod in wide Goodyear Polyglas GT tires, completing the look of near-elegant style. This Hemi Cuda has been seen in multiple magazines and a Chrysler Registry report will be included. Some like it hot; we certainly do. This is a special opportunity to own a stellar-optioned red-on-red 1970 Hemi Cuda.

Iconic styling, a show-quality presentation and a matching-numbers powerplant are just a few of the features that recommend this striking 1959 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible. The 1959 Corvette bore only minor revisions to the 1958 restyle, the most notable changes being the elimination of the non-functional hood louvers and the twin chromed spears from the trunk lid. The same simulated knock-off wheel covers introduced in 1956 now featured ten radial slots to aid brake cooling, a design that remained in production until the debut of the 1963 Sting Ray coupe and convertible. Interior updates were subtle but significant. The seats were reshaped and featured a new upholstery design, and new door panels had repositioned armrests for more elbow room. The gauges were redesigned for better legibility with concave lenses to reduce reflections and a new 7,000 RPM tachometer with graduated markings for safe, cautious and danger zones of engine operation. Perhaps the most important interior improvement was the new T-handle shifter with reverse lockout. A fabulous restoration done in comprehensive body-off fashion, this 1959 Corvette is powered by a rebuilt matching-numbers 283/245 HP small-block engine equipped with dual inline Carter 4-barrel carburetors on an aluminum intake manifold and mated to a BorgWarner T-10 4-speed manual transmission. Period-correct items include the Carter quads and intake manifold, generator, distributor and radiator. The car’s Roman Red paint and white coves are an iconic Corvette motif of the period, here made even more dramatic by the new red interior by automotive upholstery ace Al Knoch. The car additionally offers the choice of a matching red auxiliary hardtop (complete with correct dated glass) and a new white soft top. Such details as correct ignition and plug shielding, the original Wonderbar radio, spare tire, board and trunk mat, and correct spinner wheel covers over wide whitewall radial tires all meet the expectations of every demanding collector.
