This 1969 Chevrolet COPO 9561
Camaro is finished in Cortez Silver with a black interior, and its one of an
estimated 822 4-speeds built. It was delivered to Park Lane Motors, Ltd., in
Sarnia, Ontario, Canada, and it features the L72 427/425 HP V-8 engine with an
aluminum intake manifold, Holley 4-barrel carburetor, M22 4-speed transmission,
ZL2 ducted hood, Harrison HD four-core radiator, 12-bolt rear axle with
heat-treated ring-and-pinion gears and a 4.10 Positraction differential. Other
features include five-leaf rear springs, power brakes with front discs, and
front and rear spoilers. As the old adage goes, “rules are meant to be broken.”
In an effort to ingrain a perception of corporate responsibility and safety, GM
issued a corporate edict that did not allow Camaros to be offered with engines
larger than 400 CI. That would mean that the L78 396/375 HP or aluminum-headed
L89 were the most powerful engines that could normally be ordered. Potent
engines to be sure, but if there are more powerful alternatives, enthusiasts
and racers will want them. The engine in question was in fact the L72 427/425
HP version, which was available in the full-size Chevrolets and in Corvettes.
So Don Yenko and other dealers looking for more performance found a loophole in
the system. By ordering 1969 Camaros through the fleet ordering system, known
as the Central Office Production Order, they were able to specify otherwise
unavailable options if the cars were ordered in large quantities.
Municipalities and companies would order more boring fleet cars and trucks with
options specialized for their purpose. Yenko did the same thing, ordering 427s
in Camaros, along with a host of high-performance upgrades. While the spirit of
the rules were clearly violated, this subterfuge proved to be effective. In
addition to the L72 427/425, the COPO 9561 Camaro came with the ZL2
cowl-induction hood, cowl-induction air cleaner, heavy-duty springs, 12-bolt
Positraction rear axle with 4.11 gears and heavy-duty radiator. COPO Camaros
have always been special cars and this example is certainly no exception.

no Oceano Atlântico,
no Forte de Itaipu, área que hoje se situa no município de Praia Grande.
Faz parte, portanto, do conjunto de obras de saneamento da ilha,
conduzido pelo engenheiro Saturnino de Brito no
início do século XX. Desse
plano, também faz parte a construção dos conhecidos canais de Santos.
Em sua inauguração, o então prefeito de São Paulo, Washington
Luís Pereira de Sousa, atravessou a ponte em um automóvel. Estava acompanhado de sua comitiva.
Embora o objetivo principal tenha sido a condução do esgoto, a
Ponte Pênsil desde a sua construção sempre foi utilizada para a travessia de
veículos e pedestres.
