There was a real thrill for many Chrysler fans when the new-for-1970 Hemi Cuda was announced, and the paperwork accompanying this 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda shows that this was not a first-time buyer. Indeed, John Sevedge turned in his 1968 GTX to get a credit of $2,622 and then paid another $2,057 cash to take delivery of this car in March 1970. Sold new at Merrimac Motors, Inc. in Hampton, Virginia, this Hemi Cuda is accompanied by its original dealer window sticker and sales invoice and a fender tag decoding from E-Bodies.org, and it showcases a comprehensive restoration with upgrades completed in 2021 by Northwest House of Hardtops.
The car features a rebuilt 426/425 HP Hemi engine with the correct dual 4-barrel carburetors, a factory N96 Shaker fresh air package, a highly detailed engine bay and undercarriage, and new exhaust and fuel system components. Originally built coded with the A32 Super Performance Axle, it is all business behind the engine with a 4-speed manual transmission now in place of the TorqueFlite and a Dana 60 4.10 Sure Grip axle package. The suspension is rebuilt, there is power steering, and power front disc brakes came standard with the A32 package, as did heavy-duty cooling pieces like the 26-inch radiator.
The body features a superior paint color in the correct EB7 Jamaica Blue Metallic and painted top, with the exterior highlighted with black hockey stripes and dual outside color-keyed mirrors with left-hand remote. There chrome, glass and trim is impressive, and the interior features new Legendary black vinyl upholstery, bucket seats with a center console, a Hurst Pistol Grip shifter, a desirable AM 8-track radio, a wood-grain steering wheel and associated trim, and a full Rallye dash cluster. As the documentation shows, some options were later added. There is a Space Saver spare with the jack in the trunk, and this car rides on Rallye wheels hosting new F60-15 Firestone Wide-Oval tires. In a desirable color with the components many buyers wished they had ordered new, this 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda still gives thrills. Texto da Mecum.
