The 1970 Hemi Cuda was the answer to hopes of Plymouth buyers wanting something sportier than the previous A-body versions, and it did not disappoint then or now, eventually becoming one of the most desirable of all muscle cars. This particular first-year version of Plymouth’s 426 Hemi-powered E-body has the stuff dreamed of by serious aficionados of the brand. Benefiting from a rotisserie restoration on a rust-free body, this is also one of three as-equipped examples still known to exist and is a multiple-award winner that took a First Place at the 2017 Piston Ring's World of Wheels in Winnipeg. A Shaker-equipped machine, this car boasts a period correct 426/425 HP Hemi engine under the hood, which features factory dual-quad carburetion, heavy-duty internal components and the heavy-duty cooling equipment. Behind that is the date-coded A727 TorqueFlite transmission, and this car also uses the bulletproof 4.10 Dana 60 Sure Grip Performance Package. To make driving more enjoyable, both power steering and power brakes with front discs were optioned on this car. The body is finished in beautiful Citron Gold paint with a black vinyl top, which is matched to the black vinyl bench seat with scarce E-body center armrest/buddy seat. The Rallye instrument cluster with its AM/FM Multiplex radio and tachometer complete the interior, while exterior trim included the Shaker hood with J45 hold-down pins, dual chrome outside mirrors with driver’s-side remote, the A01 light package, a tinted windshield, the Go Wing rear spoiler, rocker moldings, rear-valance-exiting exhaust tips and longitudinal hockey-stripe graphics ending in the Hemi callouts. This car rides on 15-inch Rallye wheels and features the big F60-15 Goodyear Polyglas GT tires. Included in this sale is a binder containing images of important casting numbers. The Hemi Cuda would last just two years. This car represents some of the most exciting options ever offered by Plymouth, and it would be an honor to be its next owner.

Presented in DB125 Pearl Gray with a green interior and soft top, this 1962 Mercedes-Benz 190SL Roadster has had the benefit of more than 45 years of custodianship by two owners in Canada. Service records and registrations document the car’s history back to 1978. Documentation shows the car belonged to Mark Cote of Ontario, Canada, a member of the armed forces who owned the car from 1966-1987. Service records indicate that he drove the car to his numerous military posts in Canada, including in Ottawa, Halifax, Quebec and Victoria. From 1992-2011, the car was cared for by Marie and Harvey White of Ottawa, Canada. Powered by the 1.9L 4-cylinder engine, dual Solex carburetors feed the mill and a 4-speed manual transmission sends power to the rear wheels. Complete with power brakes, a Blaupunkt AM/FM radio, VDO instrumentation, bumper guards, chrome stone guards and the desirable matching luggage set, this 190SL presents in exquisite condition, a testament to the care it received over the past several decades. An obvious visual descendant from the exotic and expensive 300SL, the car also shared certain mechanical and engineering commonalities. The engine was based loosely on the 300SL’s inline 6-cylinder, and both cars featured fully independent suspensions, double wishbones in front and swing axles in the rear, and a monocoque body. First introduced in 1955, the 190SL retailed for about $4,000, a far cry from the stratospheric $12,000 a 300SL could command. The 190SL was a comfortable, easy-cruising roadster that could provide hours of enjoyment in town or on the open road. Its steering was relatively light with a responsive feel. With a nice reputation for exemplary handling and exquisite road manners, the 190SL was also easy to manage and live with, thanks to the simpler serviceability.

That letter “S” in the Formula might easily have stood for “Superb” when looking at this beautiful 1968 Barracuda. The Formula S connotation had been used to define the performance version of Plymouth’s A-body based as a Sport model—hence the real definition of that letter. The car offered here has benefitted from a rotisserie restoration and, moreover, it is also a big-block machine, featuring the matching-numbers 383/300 HP engine and TorqueFlite transmission. This option was big news following the 1967 redesign of the body that allowed the installation of the dimensionally larger B/RB engine series. This example reads Super Commando 383 on the air cleaner pie-pan and features a 4-barrel carburetor and factory exhaust manifolds. Built on October 2, 1967, in Hamtramck, Michigan, this car received the maximum cooling package, and the rest of the driveline includes an 8.75 Sure Grip rear axle with 3.23 gears. The Formula S Package and Rallye suspension meant power disc brakes, stronger leaf springs and torsion bars, Formula S medallions, and a deluxe light package with hood-mounted turn indicators. Inside the car are new bucket seats, upholstery, headliner, side panels and carpet. The round-faced dash layout features a 150 MPH speedometer, while this car came complete with console floor shifter, thumbwheel-style AM radio and rear-window defogger. The exterior is painted deep red with black rocker stripes and further features 383-S cast hood inserts, chrome exhaust extensions, a flip-top gas cap and Barracuda emblems. Today, the car still rides on original 14x5.5-inch body-color painted steel wheels with poverty-type small hubcaps and Firestone E70-14 redline tires. Accompanied by a Chrysler Registry report that denotes its unique equipment, the color combination, exquisite reconditioning and all-around aggressive stance, this Formula S was brewed up to hit the mark. For fans of not-often-seen Mopars, this is a unique ’68 big-block A-body.

This epic machine is a virtually new 2016 Porsche 911R with only 57 original miles. This 6-speed manual transmission-equipped Porsche features more than $60,000 in options including: the Porsche Special Wishes Custom Tailoring interior; black leather on the dash pad, steering wheel, steering column, center console, armrests, door panels and seats with deviated GT Silver stitching; front axle lift; Sport Chrono; LED headlights; Bose audio; and carbon-fiber mirrors and door sills. The 911R is a serious machine equipped with the 4.0L/500 HP, direct fuel-injected engine sourced from the 2016 911 GT3 RS. The carbon-ceramic 4-wheel disc brakes are also shared with the 2016 GT3 RS. However, beyond these two mechanical common denominators, the two cars are very divergent in personality. Where the GT3 RS relies on advanced aerodynamics and uber sophistication, the 911R is the embodiment of stark simplicity and minimalism. This machine is the spiritual successor to the 1967 911R, Porsche’s first purpose-built 911-based race car that was put on a massive weight reduction and fitted with a 906-spec race engine. The 2016 version subscribes to this same ethos, being 110 pounds lighter than the GT3 RS, with less aerodynamic drag since it is built on the narrow-body 911 shell. Additional lightweight features include a magnesium roof skin, carbon-fiber front fenders and 20-inch alloy wheels. Certainly the party piece of the 911R is the 6-speed manual gearbox, as no automatic was made available on this model. The 911R is easily identified by its minimum of aerodynamic appendages, but it is extremely rare to see one. With a total production run of just 991 units, purchasers of the hybrid supercar Porsche 918 Spyder were given the first right of refusal for buying a 911R. It’s a modern legend, with a race-bred 6-speed manual transmission that lets the lucky pilot have the fun of rowing through the gears while listening to the pleasing wail of the naturally aspirated flat-6 engine.
