Widely regarded as one of the best-driving and most usable classic Ferraris, the 330 GTC is highly sought after today. These cars are extremely nice to drive, even in today’s traffic, because of the wide torque band provided by the 4.0L V-12 and the tractability and balance that result from the combination of the transaxle and torque tube. The cars perfectly combine the classic Ferrari essence with more modern technical features such as a rear-mounted 5-speed gearbox, disc brakes and independent suspension all around, as well as genuinely muscular powerplants. Air conditioning was also optionally available for the first time. Because of its elegant understated lines and classic Ferrari layout, the 330 GTC has finally emerged from years of under-appreciation. Just 600 330 GTCs were constructed between 1966 and 1968, and while many GTC owners have large collections of important Ferraris, their GTC will often be the choice car for driving events.
This particular car is a matching-numbers example that was constructed for the European marketplace and equipped with air conditioning and power windows, and instruments in kilometers. By the late 1990s, the car was in La Jolla, California, and was red with a cream-colored leather interior. Much more recently, within about the last 1,000 miles, the engine was rebuilt by John Hajduk’s Motorkraft Ltd., and the car is best described as a well-sorted car mechanically, with a nice driver-level cosmetic presentation.
The paintwork is very nice, over good, straight body panels, with excellent fit and door shut. The glass and lenses are excellent, and the chrome is very nice with minimal evidence of aging. This example retains the often-missing lower fiberglass radiator shroud, and it sits on Michelin XWX-shod Borrani wheels with correct knock-offs.
The interior was beautifully redone in 2013 in Cuoio leather with the correct black vinyl in proper areas. The carpets are excellent and correct, and the headliner is probably original. The car has been fitted with modern seatbelts, but the original aviation-style belts originally fitted are included with the sale. A proper, period-correct Becker AM/FM unit remains, and the power windows are functioning well. The factory-correct wood-rimmed wheel also remains, and the dash is finished in the correct semi-gloss varnish.
The engine compartment is clean and largely correct, but not detailed for show. Present is the battery hold down but no window-washer bag. The trunk is very nice with correct carpeting, a correct Borrani spare and a spare-tire hold down. The underside is solid and doesn’t show any signs of collision repair or rust repairs, but it is not overly detailed either. The exhaust system is in very good order as well.
This example drives well on the open road. The rebuilt engine sounds crisp and makes excellent power with no apparent smoke. The gearbox is also excellent, including second gear, even when cold. The suspension feels supple, although there is some minor play in the steering box.
Offered with a tool roll and owner’s manual, this 330 GTC embodies all the superb qualities that made it the very definition of automotive style and elegance in its time. Long a favorite among Ferrari connoisseurs who appreciate their excellent road manners and elegant styling, the secret around the 330 and 365 GTC is out, with a recent explosion in values. After years in the shadow of some of their less understated brethren, GTCs are now appreciated for their mechanical sophistication, performance, elegance and rarity. Just 600 GTCs were built, and this one is a high-caliber example.

From the sidewalk, this 1940 Ford looks pretty much as Ford intended it to. Maroon paint coats a steel body that is brightened up with all the right chrome trim, and the tan-painted steel wheels don’t seem out of place, especially with the wide whitewall tires, chrome trim rings and hubcaps; it gives the impression that it’s all FoMoCo. But looking closer, the slight rake of the front end becomes apparent and the glass seems slightly tinted from stock. The headlights are of the halogen design and the tail lights are from the school of LED. Then it fires up, which is when it becomes apparent that all bets concerning a factory restoration are off. The LS V-8 engine is packing a Wilson manifold, JDM Sport Nation fuel rails and a Spectre cold-air intake among other nice tricks lending it more power than Ford ever thought a ’40 Ford would ever know. A 4L60E overdrive automatic transmission works with a Ford 9-inch rear end to distribute the power, while an independent front suspension, power steering and 4-wheel disc brakes all conspire to make the Ford infinitely easier and more enjoyable to drive. The engine bay has been color matched to the body and the firewall has been smoothed over, all of which creates a fastidiously clean, uncluttered environment that anyone can appreciate. The interior is a study in subtle custom flair with tan leather upholstery, bucket seats, a custom center console with a Pioneer stereo, Vintage Air, Classic Instruments gauges and a tilt steering column topped with a banjo-style steering wheel complete with a V-8 horn button. With the modern drivetrain and air-conditioned interior, this Ford is ready to rock the scene—and thanks to an aluminum radiator, it’ll be hard pressed to overheat too, even on warm days in traffic.
