Stunningly presented, this Mayfair bodied 540K is a beautiful example of the English coachbuilding firm’s masterwork. With a long known history and an award winning frame-off restoration, this is one of the most unique and handsome examples of an open 540K Mercedes. It was originally shipped from the factory on October 7th of 1936 to the factory store in Paris, France. In 1995 the car was sold and purchased by Ralph Englestad (Founder and late owner of the Imperial Palace Hotel & Casino) of Las Vegas, Nevada. Under his care an extensive restoration was completed. Later sold to General William Lyon in 2002. The car has been shown at Pebble Beach in 2011 as part of the 125 Year Celebration of Mercedes-Benz.
