A two-time NCRS Top Flight winner, the 1966 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray Coupe offered here is an early production example packing a matching-numbers L72 427/450 HP big-block V-8. Two big-blocks were offered in 1966, both bored out to 427 CI from the previous year’s 396: the “mild” hydraulically cammed L36 and the L72. Like the 396 CI L78 of 1965, the L72 brought to bear a forged bottom end, forged-aluminum 11.0:1 pistons and a Holley 4-barrel on an aluminum intake. Its solid-lifter cam, however, was more radical, adding yet more power to that unleashed by the L72’s increased displacement, as indicated by the “450 HP” sticker on this example’s chromed air-cleaner lid. Just before production commenced, an Engineering Change Recommendation (ECR) reduced that figure to 425 HP (likely to ward off ever-watchful regulators and insurance companies), when in fact no mechanical change was made. Early build orders stipulating the original 450 HP were scheduled for production along with later orders. This produced a mix of 450 HP and 425 HP designations arriving at dealers in late 1965, alarming buyers who ordered the 450 HP engine, only to discover the 425 HP label under the hood; a look at the dealer invoice was usually sufficient to allay concerns. This 1966 L72 coupe arrived with the 450 HP label at Young Chevrolet in Whittier, South Carolina, before being transferred to Central Chevrolet in Columbia, South Carolina. The product of a two-time Top Flight-winning nut-and-bolt restoration, it is generously equipped with transistorized ignition, factory side exhaust, a Muncie 4-speed, Positraction and goldline bias-ply tires on all five knock-off wheels. Finished in factory-correct code-986 Silver Pearl, it features a standard black interior fitted with tinted glass, a teakwood steering wheel on a tilt column and an AM/FM radio. This exceptional 1966 big-block coupe is beautifully detailed and offered with a restoration photo album.

This A12 440 Six Pack 1969 Dodge Super Bee represents one of the high-water marks of Mopar muscle cars. One-of-826 440 Six-Pack 4-speed manual transmission Super Bee hardtops, it has benefited from a concours-quality nut-and-bolt rotisserie restoration by Carriage House Custom Auto in Wanamingo, Minnesota. The car is painted in the correct F6 Bright Green Metallic paint and highlighted by the matte black fresh-air lift-off fiberglass hood that was part of the 440 Six Pack package. Sitting on black-painted steel wheels wrapped in redline tires, its demeanor is intimidating and looks ready to conquer the competition. This car features a black vinyl interior with bucket seats, a fold-down center armrest and a wood-rimmed steering wheel. The original Dodge Super Bee entered the market as a midyear introduction in 1968. It was the Dodge Boys’ direct response to the immediate success of Plymouth’s stripped-down Road Runner. The A12 package, which changed the fifth digit of the VIN to an M, included the 440 CI V-8 with three 2-barrel carburetors producing 390 HP. Other components that were part of the A12 package included a beefy Dana 60 rear axle, heavy-duty internal engine parts and heavy-duty 11-inch drum brakes. Only 1,907 A12 M-code 440 Six Pack Super Bees were produced for 1969, making cars like this example highly desirable today. With a curb weight of just 3,601 pounds and powered by the 440/390 HP Six Pack engine, the 1969 Super Bee could sprint 0-60 MPH in just 5.9 seconds according to road tests of the era. Designed with drag-racing enthusiasts in mind, it would cover the quarter-mile in just 14.5 seconds at 95 MPH. This is one Dodge muscle car that will “sting like a bee” in the hands of a skillful owner and driver.

The brainchild of American importer Max Hoffman, the SL series of Mercedes-Benz was launched in 1954 as a line of grand-touring automobiles that combined Mercedes-Benz racing technology and performance with all the luxury appointments that enthusiasts of the marque had come to expect. Over the ensuing decades, the SL would undergo six generations of evolution, culminating in the R231 series, starting in 2013. This example is a very special sixth-generation 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL65, in that it is one of just 45 examples upgraded by Mercedes-Benz’s AMG performance division to commemorate AMG’s 45th anniversary. At its heart, the SL65 AMG features a 6.0L intercooled bi-turbo V-12 engine that produces a stunning 621 HP and 738 lb-ft of torque transmitted through a 7-speed AMG Speedshift Plus transmission. With AMG’s modified Active Body Control suspension system helping to keep the power on the ground and a carbon-ceramic braking system to rein in all that power, this potent powertrain is capable of rocketing the SL65 from 0-62 MPH in just 3.9 seconds. This breathtaking performance is aided by the sixth-generation SLs being the first to have their body shells constructed entirely of aluminum, resulting in a 250-pound weight savings over the previous iteration. Special details of this 45th Anniversary package include: exclusive Designo Magno Graphite exterior paint; Designo Titanium Gray Pearl leather dash; exclusive beige diamond-stitched leather seats; AMG exterior matte carbon-fiber package; carbon-fiber interior trim; and a special 45th Anniversary badge on the console. Other notable features include: AMG 10-spoke forged wheels; Keyless Go, Parktronic; Bang and Olufsen sound system; and heated, ventilated and massaging seats. Even more impressive, this 45th Anniversary SL65 AMG has been driven only 511 miles since new.

Ferrari 512 TR 1993, Itália

Ferrari 512 TR 1993, Itália
Motor : 4.9L V12/428HP
Exterior : Vermelho (Rosso Corsa)
Interior : Bege
Fotografia

In 1991 Ferrari launched the 512TR as a radical improvement to its best-selling twelve-cylinder Ferrari, the Testarossa. Although visually similar to the outgoing model, the 512TR was far more than just a facelift and featured a wealth of improvements that enabled it to compete with its main rival, the Lamborghini Diablo. Figures of 195 mph top speed and a 0–60 time of 4.9 seconds speak for themselves; the 512TR was, and still is, a very fast car.
This example has covered just 35,000 km since being delivered to its first owner, a resident of Gibraltar, through Viauto Automovels e Accessorios in Porto in June of 1993. The accompanying service book shows servicing at regular intervals through 2001 in Lisbon, and it is believed that the car has remained in Portugal ever since. A service tag present in the doorjamb indicates that the last service was carried out in October of 2017.
It presents in good usable condition. Its Rosso Corsa paintwork retains a deep shine, whilst the Cuoio leather interior shows very minimal wear. The engine bay is as impressive today as it was in 1993 and is indicative of the care that has been bestowed upon it.
