A multiple winner of the Corvette hobby’s most prestigious awards, this 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray coupe embodies all the qualities that made the final rendition of the mid-year series a perennial classic. In 1967, there was nothing else on the road like the big-block Corvette to send enthusiasts into the throes of ecstasy. The Mark IV engine made its Corvette debut in 1965 in the form of the 396 CI L78, a high-compression brute packing forged internals, a high-duration, high-lift mechanical-lifter camshaft and single Holley 4-barrel carburetor the factory cheekily underrated at 425 HP. After punching out displacement to 427 CI for 1966, engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov rolled out his production big-block masterpiece in 1967: the sensational L71. Employing the same forged rotating assembly, 11.0:1 compression, rectangular-port heads and solid-lifter cam, the L71 featured an elegantly designed triple Holley 2-barrel arrangement with a vacuum-operated linkage system that opened the carburetors in progressive fashion to produce exhilarating and unceasing acceleration through to its 6,500 RPM redline. This highly decorated 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray coupe represents the purest distillation of Tri-Power performance in a documented four-owner example that was sold new at Red River Motor Co, Inc., in Bossier City, Louisiana, and remained in the Pelican State until 2007. Finished in the beautiful pairing of Marina Blue with a bright blue interior, this factory side-exhaust car incorporates a 4-speed manual transmission and 3.36:1 Positraction rear end, transistorized ignition, AM/FM radio, Soft Ray-tinted windshield and redline tires on Rally wheels. A frame-off restoration has earned it multiple NCRS Top Flight Awards and the Chevy Vettefest Gold Spinner Award. The NCRS Performance Verification and Duntov Mark of Excellence Awards add further luster to this Corvette’s considerable credentials, with documentation that includes the Protect-O-Plate and tank sticker.

Documented with a Marti Report and the Eminger shipping invoice, this well-kept 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302 shows just 64,070 miles on the odometer. The Boss 302 was the product of a convergence of forces activated when the Sports Car Club of America instituted the Trans American Sedan Championship for the new class of 2-plus-2 “pony cars.” In 1968, GM vice president Bunkie Knudsen, fresh off overseeing the creation of the Camaro, defected to Ford Motor Company, where he brought his “race on Sunday, sell on Monday” philosophy to bear on the redesigned 1969 Mustang. One of the first fruits of his influence was the Boss 429, designed to homologate the 429 “semi hemi” engine for NASCAR. The dust had barely cleared from the ensuing publicity when Knudsen served up the Boss 302 aimed directly at wrenching the Trans Am Championship away from Chevrolet, whose Z28 Camaro Knudsen had created in collaboration with designer Larry Shinoda. With Shinoda now at his side at Ford, the two had applied their experience to the Mustang, endowing it with a virtually bulletproof, high-revving 302 CI small-block V-8 with 10.5:1 compression, a forged-steel crank and rods, forged-aluminum pistons and high-flow heads from the 351 Cleveland engine for a factory rating of 290 HP, a typically misleading figure that actually approached 400 HP. The 1970 Boss 302 was only available with a Hurst T-handle-shifted Borg Warner 4-speed manual transmission, and included Competition Suspension, power front disc brakes, color-keyed racing mirrors, quick-ratio steering, a functional front spoiler, full instrumentation and special Goodyear Polyglas GT tires. Sold new at McRobert Motor Co., Inc., in Gresham, Oregon, and finished in yellow with black Boss stripes and a black high-back bucket-seat interior, this 1970 Boss 302 also incorporates power steering, tinted glass, a rear spoiler and rear-window Sport Slats, Detroit Locker differential and special axle ratio, factory Shaker hood, Magnum 500 wheels and an AM radio.

The color purple was one of legend in the late 1960s-early 1970s Chrysler heritage. The company settled on the Plum Crazy paint code for Dodge and In-Violet for Plymouth, both coded as an extra cost High-Impact color under FC7. In the previous offering, we introduced a 1971 Plymouth built up to Hemi Cuda specs. Here is its near-twin, a tri-color tribute also set up with a Hemi driveline and again being offered at no reserve. Of course, under the hood is a 426/425 HP Chrysler Hemi engine, the competition-designed street monster dressed up in orange with twin 4-barrel carbs and OEM-configured accessories including electronic ignition. Topping it is the Shaker hood scoop, painted in argent silver with “hemicuda” chrome callouts. Backed by a 4-speed transmission and proper Dana 60 Sure Grip rear housing, this was the way to roll if street cred was the goal. Power front disc brakes are part of this car as well. Inside is a beautiful white vinyl interior, complete with center console, AM radio, Hurst Pistol Grip floor shifter, high-backed front bucket seats and Rallye dash featuring the 150 MPH speedometer and tachometer. Dressed for success outside includes the billboard graphics with HEMI callout lettering, front lip and rear Go-Wing spoilers, rear-window louvers, hood pins, drip-rail and wheel-well trim, and road lamps. The crowning touch on this car are Rallye wheels with full trim and Goodyear Polyglas GT F60-15 tires. Starting with its restoration by Highland Automotive in Highland, New York, in 2002, this tribute to the Hemi era sports some of the highest-demand options to be found in the 1971 Plymouth literature. However, unlike many originals whose sheer value can make them difficult to enjoy as automobiles, this muscle car is ready for you to fire up and rumble out to maintain the heritage that has made the Mopar name so synonymous with this era.

Dream cars are a great part of our hobby. While ownership of the truly rare is part of that, there is the reality that, should you want to enjoy such a car even in show settings, its high-end million-dollar investment might not be part of your personal desire. This car could be the answer. Offered here at no reserve is a 1971 Plymouth Barracuda that has been reworked to a meticulous standard and fitted with the most desirable equipment for a 1971 E-body. The pinnacle option for most people regarding this model when marketed under the Cuda nameplate was the 426 Hemi engine, with its twin 4-barrel carbs and the quivering Shaker hood; this car is now equipped with both. Moreover, it is a 4-speed backed by a Dana 60 Sure Grip differential combination, correct to this design as well. Indeed, most of the factory’s most notable options are on this Plymouth, which is beautifully refinished in High Impact FJ6 Sassy Grass green with black V6X billboard graphics. The front- and rear-spoiler packages, rear-window louvers, road lamps, hood pins and extra-cost chrome trim are all here. Once inside, posh is the byword, as this car features the high-back-style front bucket seats, center console with a Hurst Pistol Grip shifter, AM/FM stereo, Rallye dash cluster with wood-grain applique and 3-spoke sport steering wheel. Driving is assisted by the power brakes with front discs and Goodyear Polyglas GT tires on deluxe Rallye rims. This restoration was completed in 2004 by Highland Automotive in Highland, New York, and showcases all the reasons why these cars have reached such a level of demand. Again, while not a car that came from Chrysler in Hemi trim, it is a stunning tribute to what could be had if you walked into a dealership in 1971 and ordered nearly the full menu. Sure to be an attractive part of any collection, this beautiful car may be the no-reserve opportunity you have waited for.

Maybe you are a big-block guy. The equipment on the 1970 AAR ‘Cuda was exclusive to that model, and it came only with one engine, the 340 Six Pack. If there is no replacement for displacement in your world, this no-reserve E-body with a whole extra 100 cubes under the hood may be right for you. Strikingly refinished in Lemon Twist Yellow paint with black AAR-style striping, this would have been the way to fly if the factory had offered the 440 Six Barrel as an option in this model. Under that unique hood is a worked Chrysler 440 with the classic triple Holley 2-barrel induction atop an Edelbrock aluminum intake. Parts from Mopar Performance and Accel are visible as well, showing this off as a street bruiser, and it boasts a side-mount-style exhaust system reminiscent of the factory’s AAR-only design. Behind that is a 4-speed manual transmission topped a by Hurst Pistol Grip shifter mounted to the floor, and power brakes with front discs will help slow you down after hearing the engine breath heavy. The detail on the outside is unique to this build, but it features styling cues like hood pins, the AAR-type chin and rear-deck spoilers, color-coded front and rear bumpers, body-color-matched side mirrors and added 440 Six Pack hood callouts on the AAR-design scoop. Inside this car you will find black vinyl front bucket seats, the pod-type dash layout with wood-grain applique, a radio-delete plate, the sport steering wheel and custom-logo carpet mats. Similar to the factory package, this car features Rallye wheels, but the rubber selected is from the old-school tradition: Uniroyal Tiger Paw tires. Of course, there will be some purists who might think this car would be better served with a 340 small-block, but we know better and so do you—click on the key and let the big-block roar.
