In 1939, three different versions of the premiere program were produced, including one for the Atlanta premiere with a blank back cover, one featuring Hattie McDaniel on the back cover, and the other replacing McDaniel with Alicia Rhett. Publicist Howard Dietz suggested to producer David O. Selznick that two editions of the premiere program be created, one not featuring Hattie McDaniel on the back cover, based on advice from Legare Davis, the Advertising Manager for Atlanta Gas Light, who was a consultant on the premiere events.
