Fiat 501 Tourer 1920, Itália
Fotografia
Following the conclusion of World War I, Fiat introduced the 501 in 1919 as the company’s new small family car. Powered by a four-cylinder, 1.5-litre engine with a four-speed gearbox, the chassis featured rear brakes and rigid axles suspended by semi-elliptical leaf springs. Customers could choose from body styles that included a four-door saloon, or a "Torpedo" cabriolet with either two or four doors.
This 1920 Fiat 501 Tourer is finished in a two-tone exterior with a crimson body and black wings, while a cowl light and side-mounted spare complete its inter-war tourer aesthetic. A black hood supported by a wooden frame offers some shelter from the elements, while the interior features well-worn black leather complemented by a wooden dashboard fitted with an amp gauge, clock, oil pressure gauge, and speedometer.
A wonderful car from the inter-war period, this Fiat 501 Tourer exudes the character of a fascinating survivor of over 100 years. Enthusiasts of Fiat’s earliest cars will surely look to this charming example as a potential entrant to the many historic events and tours for which it is eligible.
