Chevrolet Bel Air 1954, Estados Unidos

Having undergone a comprehensive restoration, this 1954 Bel Air
Sport Coupe emerged in outstanding condition with a bright red and white color
motif, chrome bumpers and trim twinkling like jewels on a well-dressed
top-of-the-line model. Powered by the legendary 235 CI Blue Flame Six engine
with two downdraft carburetors and a 3-speed manual transmission, the car has
ample torque to launch from a standstill or pick up the pace while at speed.
The electric system features a 12-volt conversion for better reliability.
The interior is a welcoming environment, handsomely appointed
and styled with lovely materials reflecting the true upscale nature of the Bel
Air models. Featuring an in-dash clock, AM radio and 110 MPH speedometer, these
early Bel Airs were luxurious in comparison to lesser models and Chevrolets
from years prior. Rolling on whitewall tires wrapping red steel wheels, the car
truly calls back to another era, taking observers back in time. Chevrolet
worked fast and diligently to bring more upscale styling, trim, materials and
even colors to market beginning in the 1949 model year. The most obvious
changes would begin to be obvious in the 1952 model year, and every year
thereafter leading up to the Tri-Five Chevrolets of 1955-57. For 1953, the Bel
Air would become its own model line and mark the top offering from Chevrolet,
available as a sport coupe, two-door sedan, four-door sedan or convertible. The
sport coupe was easy to spot, having a unique dogleg rear roof pillar and no
post between the side windows. The two-door sedan had a more traditional,
sloping roofline and posts between the side windows.
First-year Bel Air sales accounted for nearly 40% of overall
Chevrolet sales totals with 514,760 built, showing strong interest that
sustained through the 1954 model year and beyond. Needless to say, dealers were
very pleased, and the concept proved to everyone that there was a place for a
better equipped, more luxurious model from Chevrolet.
