The Berlinetta, or “little saloon,” was popularized by Ferrari in the 1950s with the 195S and 166MM, the latter winning the Mille Miglia in 1950 with Giannino Marzotto and ex-Alfa Romeo racing driver Martino Severi. The Berlinetta was revived in 2012, debuting at the Geneva Motor Show to fill the void left by the 599 GTB Fiorano. The F12 Berlinetta made its mark as a high-end supercar by incorporating the newest 21st-century technology, combining the best of a road tourer with lessons learned from Formula 1.
This drop-dead gorgeous, black-on-black 2014 Ferrari F12 Berlinetta with yellow accents has only seen 2,500 miles added to the clock since exiting the Maranello factory. Powered by a 6.3L V-12 and backed by a paddle-shifted 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, the car is good for a whopping 731 HP and 509 lb-ft of torque that make the F12 a performance monster; as Motor Trend reported, “the Ferrari F12 hits 60 MPH from a standstill in 3.6 seconds and runs the quarter mile in 11.3 seconds at a screaming 131.7 MPH. It stops from 60 MPH in just 106 feet and pulls an estimated 0.99g on the skid pad.” The car’s top speed? A cool 211 MPH.
Fitted with carbon-ceramic brakes with Brembo yellow calipers, the F12’s aluminum body and chassis rides on optional black 20-inch forged alloy wheels shod in Michelin Pilot Super Sport rubber. The black leather interior presents as factory fresh with Daytona leather inserts, yellow contrast stitching and a healthy dose of carbon fiber accents. Other GT accoutrements include aluminum pedals, dual-zone air conditioning and in-dash satellite navigation. Speed with style is the name of the F12 Berlinetta’s game, both inside and out.
