This Cobra Jet V-8-equipped 1969 Mustang Mach 1 is
Karen’s runaway favorite entrant within this outstanding collection of Mustangs
and Fords. And what’s not to love? It is a factory R-code 428 Cobra Jet car
with Ram Air dressed handsomely in the rare shade of Aztec Aqua, one of only 34
produced in this color. It was completed at the San Jose, California, plant
before being sold new at Southdale Motors in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and,
boasting its unique color and trim combination as well as an array of options,
it is a one-of-one as-equipped vehicle per the Elite Marti Report.
This refined R-code Mach 1 is the beneficiary of an extensive rotisserie restoration to like-original specs to spectacular results. Beneath the shaker hood is a date code correct 428 CI Cobra Jet V-8 with functional Ram Air. The fabled and fire-breathing mill is paired to a Select Shift Cruise-O-Matic transmission and 3.25 Traction-Lok differential. The handling package was standard equipment for the Mach 1 and the car was ordered new with power steering and brakes with front discs for further aid in maneuverability.
The Aztec Aqua finish is complemented by longitudinal and deck lid Mach 1 striping as well as a blacked-out hood treatment, lending an element of sportiness to complement the sophisticated shade. The sports car aesthetic is further enhanced by the factory sport slats, color-keyed mirrors and shaker hood, while the sophistication further extends to the interior. Within the confines of the cockpit are high-back bucket seats with center console. The requisite Red Mach 1 seat inserts and wood-grain accents add bold contrast and enhance the richness of the interior. It is nicely equipped with an electric clock, AM radio, sport deck rear seat and Deluxe seat belts with warning light. Magnum 500 wheels wrapped in new Coker Goodyear Polyglas GT tires round out a look that is affluent and aggressive all at once. Offered with the owner’s manual, receipts and previously mentioned Elite Marti Report, Karen’s Mach 1 is truly a horse of a different color.
