BMW 327 Coupé 1939, Alemanha
Fotografia
Starting off manufacturing engines
for airplanes, BMW manufactured its first automobiles in 1928, and that side of
the business grew rapidly. BMW’s 327 was initially launched in 1937 in cabriolet
body style but could also be had as a coupé. Utilizing the shortened
ladder-type chassis from the 326, that car’s six-cylinder engine was enlarged
to 1,971 cc, now capable of 60 bhp. Power was managed by a four-speed manual
gearbox as well as hydraulic disc brakes at all four corners.
According to information provided by
BMW Group Classic, chassis 73149 was delivered with a cabriolet body; however,
at some point in the car’s life an original coupé body was fitted.
Documentation accompanying the car shows that it was imported to Portugal in
2008. Presently restored in a two-tone green colour scheme over a tan leather
interior, this is a charming example of one of BMW’s most celebrated pre-war
automobiles.
