Porsche 911 GT3 RS 2008, Alemanha
Fotografia
The 911 GT3 RS was produced as a street-legal model to comply
with the homologation rules of the various sanctioning bodies such as the SCCA,
IMSA, and Grand Am, in which it actively campaigned in the GT class. The GT3 RS
is a seven-time championship class winner in the American Le Mans Series and
has placed 1st-overall at both the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 24 Hours of
Nürburgring. The GT3 RS is more than just a warmed-up 911. It occupies a
focused niche in the model lineup and features a number of specialized parts.
The engine block is referred to as the “Mezger” engine—named
after its designer Hans Mezger. This is a motorsports-derived engine and is
distinctly different than the one used in the other standard 997 generation-one
models. This 3.6-liter horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine produces 415
horsepower—an amazing 1.88 horsepower per cubic inch in naturally aspirated
form. The Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) system allows for
improved handling whether you are on the road or track. For 2008 Porsche
produced just 803 examples of 911 GT3 RS, of which it is believed just over
half were sent Stateside.
This 2008 Porsche 911 GT3 RS is finished in Green/Black, a rare
shade for the US market. The interior is trimmed in contrasting black with
green stitching. It features navigation, air conditioning, and a
body-color-matched roll cage. Additionally, this GT3 RS is optioned with Sport
Chrono Package Plus and Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), which adds
even more performance capabilities to this already incredible Porsche.
With just 9,100 miles, this 911 GT3 RS comes with a clean
Carfax report and a receipt for a recent Porsche dealer inspection report. This
example, finished in its vibrant and unusual color combination, with its
relative low mileage and selection of desirable options, make it quite sought
after among Porsche collectors and true driving enthusiasts.
