Ferrari 488 Pista Spider 2020, Itália

Influenced by the 488 GTE and 488 Challenge, Ferrari released
the 488 Pista at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. The 488 engine was upgraded for
the Pista with new camshafts, strengthened pistons, a larger intercooler,
titanium connecting rods, and Inconel exhaust manifolds from the Challenge to
generate an astonishing 710 hp at 8,000 rpm. Shift speeds were reduced to 30
milliseconds (when in race mode) and the exterior was radically redesigned to
increase downforce over the nose and optimize clean airflow over the rear
spoiler. Carbon fiber and Alcantara are used throughout the Pista for weight
reduction. Overall, the Pista weighs 200 pounds less and generates 20-percent
more downforce than the standard 488.
The 488 Pista Spider was released a few months later at the
2018 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and surprisingly weighed even less than
the fixed head 488 Pista. The Pista Spider is the first open Ferrari road car
to weigh less than its coupe counterpart and is the 50th open Ferrari model
released.
This 488 Pista Spider has been driven a paltry 90 miles from
new and is highly equipped with red brake calipers, several carbon fiber
options, AFS system, suspension lifter, titanium exhaust pipes, special colored
stitching, white rev counter, racing livery, and more. The exterior is finished
in Nero with a red racing stripe while the interior is trimmed in red
Alcantara with black and white accents. This Pista Spider is stunningly
specified and with such so low mileage is effectively a brand-new car.
As Top Gear magazine so aptly wrote, “A blast in a
Pista Spider on a sunny day on a good road will remind you what’s good about
life.”
