Ford Model 68 Phaeton V8 Tourer 1936, Estados Unidos

Elegance and spritely performance was the order of the day for
American Fords in the 1930s and that combination caused headaches for many
other Stateside manufacturers, especially those offering more expensive cars
who found that they couldn't match the blue oval's all-round value. The 1930s
model ranges comprised numerous body designs including a phaeton such as the
1936 V8 model offered here. This very pleasing example is a Canadian-built
right-hand drive model that was exported to South Africa. Its bodywork and
cream paint are in very good order and the chrome has a deep shine. The
body-coloured wheels and hubcaps are equally smart. Interested parties will
find the interior equally good: the seats, trimmed in cream, are in very good
order, as are the door cards ad the carpet. The dashboard and its comprehensive
range of instruments are good too and the steering column and gear lever have
been refreshed too. Being a phaeton there is a large hood to cover the whole
passenger area and this is in fine condition. The side valve V8 starts and runs
very well while and the engine bay presents extremely well while the clutch,
gearbox brakes and suspension are in extremely good order. With space to pile
in the family, the dog and maybe a few friends this charming Phaeton would be a
real pleaser at any classic show or cruise or – whisper it – hot rod gathering.
