The Lamborghini Centenario has arrived in Asia, the first example of the limited edition model making its way to Hong Kong. To herald its arrival, Lamborghini Hong kong has released this set of images on its Facebook page.
Built as a centenary celebration model to honour company founder Ferruccio Lamborghini’s birth in 1916, the LP 770-4 is set to be a rare beast, because only 20 units will be made in coupe and roadster forms, and all have apparently been spoken for.
The car – which made its debut in Geneva last year – is based on the Aventador, but has been given a significant rework. Among tother things, the front features new, sleeker headlights, hood nostrils and a completely revised apron. At the side, the rear intake has been made larger, and the entire rear end is also new.
The Centenario delivered to the HK buyer features the dark grey and black paint job – complete with yellow accents – seen on the debutant last year. Plenty of carbon-fibre to be seen, the car absolutely dripping in it, both outside and inside.
The Aventador’s 6.5 litre naturally-aspirated V12 engine has been massaged to offer 770 hp, up 70 from the regular car, which is good enough to make the limited model the most powerful production Lamborghini. Performance-wise, it’s capable of doing the 0-100 km/h dash in 2.8 seconds all the way past 350 km/h.
The engine is mated to Lamborghini’s Independent Shifting Rod (ISR) gearbox and a permanent four-wheel drive system, and the car – which tips the scaled five kg lighter than the Aventador SV, at 1,520 kg – also gets a new Lamborghini rear-wheel steering system.
