This stunning
1969 Chevrolet Yenko Camaro is a rare code-X11 car denoting its Z21 Style Trim
Group option package comprising roof drip-rail moldings, simulated rear-fender
louvers, bright wheel-arch moldings, black-painted lower body sills and bright
headlight and tail-light bezels. Built in the second week of March 1969 at the
Norwood, Ohio, assembly plant, it was equipped with the COPO 9561 and COPO 9737
Sports Car Conversion packages, and it was delivered in code-72 Hugger Orange
with a black standard interior and D80 front and rear spoilers, power front
disc brakes, 140 MPH speedometer and AM radio. The car was sold new at Yenko
Supercar dealer Joseph Chevrolet in Cincinnati, Ohio, and it was later
repossessed from the original owner. It was then purchased by Dick Forgas of
Altoona, Pennsylvania, who equipped the car with day-two speed equipment. He
then drag raced the car from 1969 through 1971 as “Forgy’s Funster,” turning
mid-13-second elapsed times at such venues as Keystone Raceway Park in New
Alexandria. Forgas recently stated that the car ran an 11.18-second quarter mile at
124.89 MPH. It was professionally restored by highly regarded Yenko specialists
Super Car Workshop in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, and Arone Restoration in Homer
City. During the restoration, it was displayed at MCACN and the Norwood
Gathering to demonstrate what these cars looked like in the body-drop area of
the assembly line. A-1 Automotive Machine Shop in Greensburg, Pennsylvania,
built the Camaro’s all-aluminum 427 racing engine based on a Casting No. 326711
aluminum block and using Winters Foundry aluminum heads and intake manifold, a
Holley 4-barrel carburetor, ceramic-coated tube headers and Gardner dual
exhaust. Hoss' Gear Shop in Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania, rebuilt the car’s
driveline. Completed with Goodyear Polyglas GT tires on Real Rodders polished-aluminum
wheels and Stewart Warner tach and auxiliary gauges, this rare Yenko Camaro is
offered from the Paul Offutt Yenko Collection.
