A car that never hid its
performance purpose thanks to the successes of Penske/Donohue racing, RPO Z28
as offered here was a serious street contender in 1968. This unique Camaro’s
blend of components was for the person who would drive it. The highly tuned
302/290 HP V-8 engine features a Winters aluminum intake and 4-barrel
carburetor, its RPM note thundering the dual-exhaust system. A 4-speed manual
transmission kept one’s arm active in traffic, with power steering and power
brakes to allow it to go exactly where you intended. This beautiful machine has
Butternut Yellow paint with black rally stripes and a complementary gold vinyl
interior. Inside are bucket seats, a deluxe center console with gauges, Hurst
shifter and wood steering wheel. Riding on Rally wheels and BF Goodrich radial
tires, only the stripes and balanced curbside stance gave away its secrets. A
true performance car, the Z28 Camaro is an icon of that era.
