Big changes came to Chevrolet
for 1958, with completely redesigned body lines and the newly-released W-series
engine, the predecessor to the so-fine 409. The comprehensive restoration on
this Impala was completed about six years ago, and it has had the same owner
since 2004. Powered by a 348/250 HP V-8 engine, this is a factory 4-barrel car
with the optional tri-power setup added, complete with a dual-snorkel air
cleaner. The engine, with dual exhaust, is backed by a 3-speed manual
transmission, and the car also features power steering. Complementing its
stunning two-tone paintwork in deep bronze with a white roof, the interior
presents beautifully in gold with tri-tone inserts and very rare NOS carpeting.
Also inside are an in-dash clock, heat and defrost, and pushbutton radio. This
car has both spinner wheel covers and wide whitewall tires to accent its
overall appearance. Driven 51,800 believed-original miles, this first-year
big-block is a beautiful example of what USA-1 is all about.
