Factory correct Orbit Orange with Black interior
Fans of muscle cars know that
colors got crazy in 1970, and one of the most outrageous was Pontiac’s Orbit
Orange, a hue that turned heads. This is an Orbit Orange 1970 GTO Judge hardtop
that came out of the Pontiac plant in Fremont, California, with an option-heavy
list of equipment that pushed its sticker to an MSRP of $4,519.56. With the
original factory build sheet intact and additional PHS documentation included,
this car sold new at Reliable-Pontiac-Cadillac in Roseville, California, and
was among the earliest classic machines that visibly entered the hobby in the
1980s. Indeed, restored back in the day and featured in magazines such as
“Muscle Car Classics” in February 1990, “Car Craft” in July 1993 and “Guide to
Muscle Cars” in both June 1989 and December 1990, this Judge has been
excellently preserved and maintained since then. Still in its factory-correct
Orbit Orange paint, the great Judge equipment is on this car, accented with
Judge graphics, a spoiler package and body-color front bumper. Under the hood
is Pontiac’s 400 CI engine mated to its 4-speed manual transmission and
Safe-T-Track rear differential. Inside, the black interior
features upscale appointments like the bucket seats with center console
(featuring an NOS console lid), Hurst T-handle shifter, the Formula steering
wheel, the Rally gauge cluster with tachometer, AM Radio with rear speaker
option, 8-track player and Soft Ray-tinted glass. However, it did not end there,
as this car has the Ride and Handling package as well. It has both
variable-ratio power steering and power front disc brakes, and it rides on
correct Rally II wheels with Firestone Wide Oval tires. A final note of
importance is that this car, sold new in the Golden State, retains its
oft-discarded California Evaporative Emissions Package. Still in the same
wonderful condition it was when it appeared in the aforementioned magazines,
here is a “far-out” Judge from a golden year of muscle-car production.
