The Challenger T/A was a once-ever release, allowing Dodges being campaigned back in 1970 by Sam Posey and his SCCA Trans-Am team to wear the special hood, scoop and spoiler package the factory had developed. In this incredible no-reserve opportunity, offered here is the only Challenger T/A constructed with black paint with a contrasting white interior and top. Moreover, the car was sold new at the legendary Mr. Norm's Grand Spaulding Dodge in Chicago, and it has wonderful provenance to that effect, including the original bill of sale, advance shipping notice and sales invoice info from Grand-Spaulding. Of course, all T/A models are already special. Under the unique fiberglass hood—part of the exclusive N94 fresh-air package—is the 340 Six Pack topped with a trio of Holley carbs and equipped with chrome-tipped side-exit exhaust, exclusive to this model in Dodge’s history. The car was also equipped with a performance-related driveline, the A833 4-speed transmission and 3.91:1 Sure Grip differential, plus heavy-duty suspension parts, fast-ratio steering and power front disc brakes. Exterior equipment includes the rear spoiler and rear-mounted radio antennae, body-color sport mirrors with driver’s-side remote, locking gas cap and black T/A graphics. The latter creates a stunning accent to the bold color choice. Inside are white vinyl front bucket seats, a center console with Hurst Pistol Grip shifter and an AM/8-track radio with dual rear speakers. The U01-coded Rallye wheel option denoted the use of E60-15s in front and larger G60-15 rear versions, a factory Hot Rod look seldom repeated by any manufacturer. Featured in multiple magazines, this spectacular car has benefitted from a rotisserie restoration completed in 2007 by Blue Star Performance in LaSalle, Illinois, with photos from that effort also included in the sale. With T/A-style 1970 Challengers continuing to grow in both interest and desirability, this opportunity to own an example that is noted as one-of-one with authentic Mr. Norm’s provenance makes your choice, quite simply, black and white.
